No matter if you are the best interviewee on the planet, if you make a bad first impression then it is highly unlikely that you will receive the job. First impressions make up of eighty percent of our thoughts toward a person. You can change these impressions of a person over time, but in a fifteen minutes interview you will not be able to accomplish this. This is why you should make the best first impression you can upon the interviewer.

Males should stick to dress pants and a dress shirt at the very minimum while interviewing. The rules of thumb for knowing how to dress for an interview is business casual. You should always be dressed one step higher then the person who is interviewing you. There is no such thing as coming overly dressed for an interview. You will simply show that you are passionate about being professional.

Males should also stick with neutral colors. Wear either black dress pants or khakis and a nice polo shit to match the khakis. There should not be too many flashy colors on you. Males should also shave their faces to appear professional and style their hair in order to keep it out of their face. If possible, get a haircut before your interview. The more clean your appearance looks, the better it will go for you.

Woman have a choice when it comes to what to wear to an interview. Woman can wear a skirt with a business top, or dress pants. If a woman decides to go with a skirt then the skirt should not be higher up then the knees. This way when you sit down, you do not have to worry about showing off your underwear. You want to receive the interview based on your intelligence and your qualifications and not what you look like. You should also keep your hair back and in a ponytail or a bun.
